Blocked Prospects: Yonder Alonso
I was trying to decide what player to choose for this week, and I saw the Reds have Yonder Alonso playing LF for AA Carolina. JD wrote a great piece about a month ago on Alonso and how it was a bit of a head scratcher of a pick. The Reds have Joey Votto entrenched
Is Josh Beckett a Bargain?
On Monday the Red Sox locked up Josh Beckett through 2014, avoiding a year long distraction about whether or not he might leave via free agency. Beckett signed for $68 million over four years, $15.75 million a year with a $5 million signing bonus. I'm not sure if the signing bonus is a lump sum

The AL discusion can be found here. Al Skorupa: Let's start with the division winners and playoff setup. I'm picking

Say Hey(ward) to a Brave New Outfield
NOTE: I took out the incorrect part about SUPER-TWO. 5 days ago Bobby Cox named Jason Heyward, Bullpen Banter's number 2 prospect, the Atlanta Braves starting right fielder. Heyward is easily the best choice for the opening day starting job. He'll join Matt Diaz and Melky Cabrera (left field platoon) and Nate McLouth (center field)
